These shots are of the Rene Gruau exhibition at Somerset House. Photos were not allowed and as I have a lumbering great SLR I only managed to take two sneaky shots before I was discovered. The red dresses are 1950s haute couture Dior dresses, absolutely stunning. Also on display were the original perfume bottles for Miss Dior and J'adore Dior made from Baccarat crystal as well as the originals of all his Dior illustrations. Personally I prefer Flower Woman to Diorella but perhaps that's because I'm blonde.
"To be inspired by Dior is to be inspired by Rene Gruau. His sketches capture the silhouette and spirit of Dior and a new era of fashion and femininity. His illustrations are timeless, ever youthful, ever faithful to the moment he saw; they capture the energy, the sophistication and daring of Dior, and equally are a token of an enduring friendship." - John Galliano

Happy 2011!

ooo nice pictures sweetie! Well sometimes one just needs to relax, and then there is difficoult to find inspiration for new blog posts every now and then. So I understand you. SV: It's true, rings make a nice "cherry on top" for every outfit. It's just that mine have a tendency to be broken ASAP, simply because they are cheap:( Have a nice day hon!

ReplyDeleteHaha, and the scratching and stuff freaked me out! I guess I liked it, but the ending was really sad! Have a nice evening lovely!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to say about that. Hypeed initially sent emails to their members asking them if they want to join their New Year video. Then they even mentioned on their Twitter several times that any of their members can join this video and that they can send in their videos until December 31st.
ReplyDeleteSo, as far as I know, everyone was invited. Maybe there weren't many English bloggers that send their videos.
P.S. Great picture you took of the fireworks, I forgot to take a shot.
I wouldn't say lazy, it didn't even crossed my mind.
ReplyDeleteJust that, with the holidays and all, many left their town to celebrate Christmas or New Year's and just didn't have time to make a video.
I am sure there wasn't any other meaning behind it.
WOW! nice post! so beautiful photos :)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, you didn't make me feel cornered at all. I know you didn't put words in my mouth, there isn't any need to apologize.
